Abstract
Light pollution refers to artificial light that is harmful or considered
disturbing by humans. It has become one of the rapidly growing
environmental hazards affecting both humans and ecosystems. The
aim of this study is to identify the harmful effects of light pollution
on humans, examine the factors contributing to it, and explore
preventive measures. This research is descriptive-analytical in
nature. Data were collected from various sources, including books,
scientific articles, and recent national and international studies.
Initially, reliable and up-to-date sources were reviewed, and relevant
information was gathered, analyzed, and synthesized to derive
overall conclusions. The findings indicate that light pollution, as a
consequence of technological advancements, can have significant
adverse effects similar to other forms of environmental pollution. It
impacts human life in multiple ways, including disrupting the
natural circadian rhythm, increasing the risk of malignant cancers,
causing stress and depression, reducing concentration and cognitive
abilities, and decreasing resilience. Moreover, light pollution has
direct effects on the eyes, which over time may lead to blindness.
