Pamir–Wakhan: The Strategic Corridor of the Ancient World

This study examines the historical, economic, and political geography of a region that, since ancient times, has been a focal point of attention for neighboring countries. It also focuses on its constructive historical role and future geopolitical significance. The main objective of this research is to analyze the historical and strategic evolution of this economic and transit region, to evaluate its historical capacities, and to propose better pathways for improving the country’s living conditions through this route.
In terms of purpose, this research is applied, and in terms of nature, it is qualitative. It is conducted using a descriptive–analytical method. The primary focus of the study is to investigate the status of archaeological and historical research throughout the history of transit in this region, with an emphasis on challenges and solutions, which are gathered through document analysis and scientific interviews. Additionally, a comparative analysis will be conducted to evaluate changes and developments in this field from the perspectives of economic, strategic, and regional partners. The expected results of this study can help identify research gaps in this area, improve cultural policymaking, strengthen conservation programs, and formulate effective strategies for the development of historical and analytical research in the Wakhan region of Badakhshan, Afghanistan. It will also provide a foundation for future research and support scientific and strategic decision-making.
