Abstract
This article examines the effect of removing catalytic converters on the performance of the oxygen sensor and fuel consumption in cars. Catalytic converters are known as a key tool in reducing air pollution and improving fuel efficiency. The research method includes the analysis of scientific documents and interviews with car dealers and mechanics in Kabul city. The findings of this research show that the complete removal of the catalytic converter leads to an increase in air pollution, a change in the functioning of the oxygen sensor, and an increase in engine oil consumption. On the other hand, removing the catalytic converter has negative effects on engine performance and maintenance costs. The result of this research shows that catalytic converters have an effect on the performance of the oxygen sensor, keeping the air clean and making the car engine work better, and it is recommended to continue using catalytic converters in cars to clean the environment and save fuel
