Abstract
Prayer (Ṣalāh) holds a central position as one of the greatest
practical pillars of Islam. Among its essential components,
Khushū‘ (devout humility) is regarded as the soul and essence of
prayer and carries profound significance in Islamic teachings. The
Holy Qur’an describes the successful believers as those who are
humble in their prayers. This study aims to examine the status and
legal ruling of Khushū‘ in prayer, addressing the central question:
“What is the ruling of Khushū‘ in prayer?” along with related
inquiries. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method
and is based on library sources. Findings indicate that Khushū‘ is
the primary objective of prayer and the key element that imparts
spiritual impact on the human heart and soul. Without Khushū‘,
prayer becomes like a lifeless body, lacking its intended spiritual
effect. The study concludes that observing Khushū‘ is essential for
attaining the perfection and spiritual essence of worship in Islamic
law.
