Abstract
This research employs a descriptive-analytical method based on library resources, authoritative Persian and Arabic etymological dictionaries, as well as linguistic corpora. Our fundamental and primary objective in this research is to identify the role of research in enhancing the quality of higher education. The significance that distinguishes this research from others lies in examining the existing obstacles and challenges in the path of research development and providing practical solutions to strengthen the research culture in Afghanistan's universities.The results indicate that research and investigation, as the driving force of scientific development, play an undeniable role in the advancement of Afghanistan's universities. Investment in this sector not only enhances the country's scientific status but also lays the foundation for sustainable development and solving national challenges. Achieving this requires serious commitment from the government, university management, and active participation of professors and students. Attaining improved international rankings for universities, developing critical thinking skills in students, solving the country's social and economic problems, and establishing effective linkages between universities and industry in this era of artificial intelligence can provide hope for a better future for universities that have better scientific research policies.
