The biosphere, encompassing the totality of living organisms and their respective habitats, constitutes one of the most fundamental and dynamic systems of the Earth. A systematic understanding of the origin and evolution of the biosphere is essential for elucidating the history of life, the intricate interactions between organisms and their environments, and the processes underlying contemporary biodiversity. Through a series of complex and interrelated processes—including the synthesis of organic molecules, the emergence of the earliest living cells, the evolution of photosynthetic organisms, and progressive climatic transformations—the biosphere gradually attained its present configuration. Furthermore, geological processes, volcanic activity, and the progressive oxygenation of the Earth’s atmosphere have played pivotal roles in shaping the trajectory of biological evolution and the diversification of life forms. This study aims to provide a comprehensive and critical review of the processes underlying the origin and evolution of the Earth’s biosphere. To achieve this objective, a descriptive–analytical research method has been employed, relying on the systematic examination and interpretation of relevant scientific literature. The findings of this study suggest that the biosphere, as the domain of life on Earth, has functioned as a highly organized and self-regulating system since the early stages of the planet’s formation. Over geological timescales, the Earth has undergone substantial transformations, ultimately leading to the development of a life-supporting envelope that provides favorable conditions for the persistence of living organisms, including plants, animals, and humans. In this context, the biosphere represents a unique and irreplaceable system shaped by continuous environmental and geological changes. Therefore, the protection and sustainable management of this complex and delicately balanced system are imperative for ensuring the continuity of life on Earth.
