الملخص

The Objective of this research is to review and compare the role of Oxygenated additives in increasing the octane number and reducing pollution caused by gasoline combustion in vehicles. This research has been conducted using a systematic review method, studying scientific articles, books, and reliable sources. The findings of this research show that additives such as ethanol, methanol, and ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) effectively increase the octane number and reduce the emission of pollutants such as carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons through processes like increasing oxygen content and improving engine performance. For example, although ethanol raises the octane number, it has lower energy content, and ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) is of less importance due to its environmental pollution and carcinogenicity. The results of this research show that ethanol, as a more environmentally compatible additive, creates a better balance between increasing the octane number, improving engine performance, and reducing pollution. The use of oxygenated additives such as methanol, ethanol, and ethyl tert-butyl ether are important compounds for improving gasoline quality and reducing air pollution.
