Translation from Arabic into Afghan Languages: Problems and Solutions

الملخص

This study aims to examine the challenges facing translation from Arabic into Afghan languages throughout its long history، and to explore appropriate scientific solutions to these challenges. The researcher adopted the descriptive-analytical method in this study، whereby common translation problems among Afghan translators were identified and analyzed، followed by the proposal of suitable solutions. Additionally، the researcher employed the inductive method by tracing translation models and examples to arrive at general conclusions. The study reached the following findings:Identified Problems:Underestimation and trivialization of translation work in the country by most translators who undertake the process of transferring and translating from Arabic into Afghan languages.Lack of attention by Afghan translators، particularly novice ones، to the subject matter they are translating.Over-reliance on literal translation when rendering Arabic texts into Afghan languages.Insufficient attention to understanding the terminology contained in the source text intended for translation.Negligence of most novice Afghan translators in comprehending certain linguistic phenomena in the Arabic language that have a significant impact on translation، such as synonymy and polysemy.Proposed Solutions:Afghan translators must recognize the importance and difficulty of translation from Arabic into Afghan languages to avoid underestimating it.Afghan translators should pay considerable attention to the subject matter they are translating.Translators must acquire comprehensive knowledge of the scientific terminology appearing in the translated text.Afghan translators need to recognize the drawbacks of literal translation and avoid relying on it when translating texts.Afghan translators should understand the linguistic phenomena that benefit them in translating texts from Arabic into Afghan languages.
