An Exegesis of a Ghazal by Abul-Ma'ani Mirza AbdulQadir Bidel

 Abstract
Bidel, the great poet and mystic, through embodying the traits of the Perfect
Human, transformed his poetry into a means of purifying hearts. A profound
understanding of Bidel’s poetry requires familiarity with the alphabet of his
language and the Indian style (sabk-e Hendi). This article explores various
dimensions of Bidel’s poetry, including its mystical and philosophical
interpretations, with a particular focus on the analysis and commentary of Ghazal
No. 1553 from Kulliyāt-e Bidel, based on the critical edition by Khāl Mohammad
Khasta and Ustād Khalili. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical method,
using a range of sources to interpret Bidel's thoughts as reflected in the selected
verses. The findings reveal that Bidel, through the use of allegories and mystical
elements, expresses profound human concepts and emphasizes detachment from
material attachments and pride. Ultimately, the article highlights the significance
of solitude and silence in the mystical path as a means of drawing closer to Truth
and the Divine, and attempts to reflect on Bidel’s teachings within the context of
contemporary life.
