Climate change represents one of the most critical and irreversible challenges of the modern era. In Fayzabad District, Badakhshan Province, these changes have had profound and hazardous impacts on agriculture. Such impacts include untimely cold spells, increased frequency of droughts, outbreaks of pests and plant diseases, rising average temperatures, the emergence of new viruses, extinction of animal and plant biodiversity, conversion of pastures into residential and agricultural areas, and reduced productivity and vitality of certain plant species. This study is field-based, employing a systematic questionnaire survey, with a total of 350 questionnaires distributed. The collected data were organized into a scholarly article. The primary objectives of the research are to examine the causes of climate change, assess its consequences, and identify potential mitigation strategies. The findings indicate that climate change in Fayzabad District has had significant effects on agriculture. These effects include reduced rainfall, increased temperatures, changes in sowing and harvesting times, decreased crop yields, emergence of new pests and diseases, and damage to plant and tree species. Most respondents are aware of climate change and consider it a major factor contributing to reduced agricultural production. Trees such as apple and poplar and crops including wheat, barley, sorghum, melon, and legumes are particularly vulnerable. The study concludes that horticultural, agronomic, and forest plants—such as poplar, apple, and melon—have been severely affected, limiting their productive use. The research highlights that a key solution for this district is the widespread adoption of climate-resilient plant varieties, alongside urgent awareness-raising and educational initiatives for local farmers.
