Analysis and Examination of the Major Consequences of the Bloody Herat Uprising of 24 Hoot 1357

The uprising of 24 Hoot 1357  in Herat was a six-day popular and military revolt against the communist regime of Afghanistan, considered a turning point in the history of jihad and resistance. The main problem is the analysis of the widespread consequences of this uprising. Its significance lies in explaining the role of this event in the collapse of the regime's legitimacy, intensifying the political crisis, and paving the way for Soviet intervention and subsequent Western support for the mujahideen. The aim of the research is to draw lessons from this event for understanding contemporary developments in Afghanistan. The research method is qualitative, of historical-analytical type, based on library sources and eyewitness reports. The findings show that the uprising caused discord between Taraki and Amin, a coup, intra-party and military purges, forced recruitment of youths, severance of Kabul's relations with Iran and Pakistan, serving as a model for chain uprisings (Chindawol, Bala Hissar, etc.), widespread migration, intensification of jihad, transformation of government tactics into offensive attacks and area destruction, and finally attracting US military support for the mujahideen. The conclusion is that this uprising not only brought the communist regime and Soviet presence into crisis, but also marked the beginning of deep political, social and military transformations that continued until the Soviet withdrawal and the victory of the mujahideen.
