The Spread of the English Language and Its Consequences on the Parsi Dari Language in the Last Twenty Years of The Fourteenth Century

Abstract

In the process of globalization, English is the only mediating and technology language. So, different countries have designed the learning of this language in their educational programs. Afghanistan, as a member of the global family, has not been without the need of English language education. The findings of this research show that the learning of the English language in the last twenty years of the 14th century was very extensive compared to the previous decades, and a large number of citizens of the country have mastered on this language. Nevertheless, teaching of this language in the last two decades has not been needless of social and cultural challenges. At the same time, the teaching of English language in the Afghanistan society has positive aspects, it also has limitations in the direction of strengthening of Parsi Dari language and cultural and native values of the country. So, learning English in formal and informal schools is not program-oriented and has mostly been done passively. This research, which was conducted by using of the descriptive-analytical method and based on Phillipson's critical theory of language, explains that the passive and non-critical teaching of English in the Afghanistan society is challenging and creates limitations for local languages and cultures (such as: Parsi Dari language and culture). Therefore officials of the educational, cultural and academic fields are obliged to review foreign language learning programs and design a regular and measured educational program based on the critical theory of language.
