Abstract Darwish Durani is one of the most distinguished writers and poets of the great Pashtun nation, enjoying a prominent position across literary circles. He is not only a unique and innovative figure in the realm of ghazal poetry, but also ranks among the few contemporary poets who have achieved excellence in the art of nazm (metrical poetry). From a personal perspective as well, Durani is a noteworthy individual. True to his pen name Darwish (“the ascetic”), he possesses the qualities associated with a dervish-like personality—emotionally deep, calm, and gentle in temperament. His emotional sensitivity and refined artistic expression are reflected both in his creative works and in his interpersonal relations, where he demonstrates the same gentle and composed demeanor. The social objective of this research is to introduce readers to Darwish Durani and to shed light on the stylistic and technical dimensions of his poetry. The value and significance of this study lie in the fact that, despite Durani’s literary prominence, no prior research has comprehensively examined these particular aspects of his poetic works. Therefore, addressing this scholarly gap was essential. The research follows a descriptive–analytical methodology. The findings reveal that Darwish Durani possesses a distinctive poetic style among contemporary Pashto poets. The results further indicate that his unique poetic techniques have endowed his works with exceptional depth, color, and aesthetic appeal, distinguishing his poetry within the modern Pashto literary landscape.
