Assessment of Teaching Quality from the Students' Perspective at Badakhshan University

چکیده

One of the key approaches to enhancing the quality of higher education is the evaluation of faculty teaching performance by students. The present study aimed to determine the important criteria for faculty evaluation from the perspective of students at Badakhshan University. The objective of this research was to assess the quality of teaching among faculty members at Badakhshan University from the students' viewpoint. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in the spring semester of 1404 (2025) across all faculties of Badakhshan University، encompassing a total student population of 3،642. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire developed by the researchers and distributed to students through their respective faculties، with responses collected through the same channels.Research Methodology: This cross-sectional descriptive study included all students enrolled at Badakhshan University during the first half of the academic year 1404. The statistical population comprised 3،442 students currently enrolled at the university. Based on Cochran's formula، a sample size of 330 questionnaires was determined and distributed to students to elicit their perspectives. The measurement instrument was a questionnaire consisting of items across five domains: teaching skills، personal characteristics، communication skills، evaluation skills، and adherence to academic rules and regulations. Data were analyzed using SPSS software، employing descriptive statistics (frequency، mean، and standard deviation) and inferential tests including Chi-square and one-way ANOVA at a significance level of 0.05.Findings: The research findings indicate that the mean score for teaching quality was 19.46 with a standard deviation of 3.46، which is below the desired benchmark of 22.05. The results also demonstrate that despite the low teaching quality showing a statistically significant relationship، teaching quality was further examined across faculties. The Faculty of Education ranked first، while the Faculty of Computer Science ranked last.
